I have pondered whether to buy Nikon D700 or not for about a year now. The reason I haven't made my mind yet is that I've gotten along with my D300 + D50. However, my photography style has changed favoring prime lenses and I have recently managed to buy couple of used primes (24/2.8 & 85/1.8) at reasonably low prices. These lenses can be used both on DX and FX as well as opposed to many zooms that are designed only for DX or FX bodies. So I already have few lenses I could use both on DX and FX. In addition it is soon time to upgrade my D50 anyway.

The problem is that D700's price has stayed the same for a very long time now and there hasn't been high end upgrades from Nikon. I have desperately googled for rumors about D800, D900, D700x ect, but it has only made things worse. I wouldn't like to buy D700 now just to notice that Nikon introduces its replacement after the summer. So seers, wizards, sorcerers, psychics, gypsies, fortune tellers, and all other types of diviners please tell me what is Nikon up to.
